North Carolina residents thinking about starting either a CNA, LPN or RN nursing career are required, as a first step, to complete one of the following programs offered by official North Carolina nursing schools:

  • A certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program approved by the Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR)
  • A licensed practical nurse (LPN) educational program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • A registered nurse (RN) academic program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
