First Birthday Card Ideas

Possibly the worst way to choose a credit card is to apply for the first one offered. Credit cards are big business; literally billions of applications are sent out every year. Credit card issuers are perfectly willing to pay out bonuses to get new customers, particularly those most likely to be profitable. Additionally, the terms offered vary wildly. Potential customers owe it to themselves to search out the best possible deal.

Annual Fees

Amazingly, many credit cards still charge an annual fee. In some cases, this is justified; the card issuer may offer additional services (generally concierge services) that are covered by the fee. In other cases, this is similar to the ADP charge tacked on in unsavory car lots. (For the uninformed, ADP literally means additional dealer profit). Unless there is a specific reason to do otherwise, avoid cards charging an annual fee; credit card customers are making a profit for the card issuer and should not be paying for the privilege.
